Red-bellied Woodpecker Tongue Anatomy
Red-bellied woodpecker head with extended tongue and hyoid anatomy. Created for a new interpretive display at the Holden Arboretum in Ohio. It has been turned into an interactive panel with a 3-D tongue that can be pulled out to show the maximum length of extension. The final display can be seen in a video walk through of the Arboretum exhibit (around 1:04).
A print will be on display at the art gallery for the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) as part of an exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators from July through October of 2018.
